From July 22-August 9
(79th anniversary of the Quit India movement), Kisan Sansad (Farmers’ Parliament) is organized parallel to the actual Parliament during its Monsoon session at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. At a walking distance from the Parliament building 200 farmer delegates were allowed under heavy security arrangements. According to some estimates approximately 3700 farmers from 20 states participated in the Kisan Sansad. Two days, July 26 and August 9, 2021, of the Kisan Sansad, were dedicated to women’s issues and were conducted by women farmers termed as Mahila Kisan Sansad (Women Farmers’ Parliament). The discussions on these days entirely focused on issues faced by women in the countryside. August 9 was also the anniversary of the Quit India Movement.
