Devender Singh Babli of the Jananayak Janata Party elected from Tohana, Haryana insulted farmers on camera. Tohana JJP MLA abused farmers and there were arrests of farmer protesters. In protest of these arrests there was a major protest activity in front of the Sadar Thana of Tohana city in Fatehabad district. On June 5-6, the SKM leaders participated in the protest and offered court arrest if the arrested leaders are not released and cases aren’t withdrawn. The arrested farmers were granted bail by the court on June 6 and two of them were released at midnight. One of the other protesters, Makkhan Singh, who had a case filed against him under section 307 of the IPC by the local MLA was not released so farmer organizations gave a call to gherao Tohana Sadar Thana by the four neighbouring districts on June 7. One farmer brought his cow to the police station and tied it there, others threatened to do the same if the protest continues. Under the pressure from a two-day long siege of the police station the local MLA had to apologize for his behavior and withdraw the cases and the last farmer was also released.
