Rohtak Dharna (sit-in) at former Co-Operative minister and Vice-President of the state BJP, Manish Grover’s house to protest the alleged obscene gestures towards women protesters at the Guru Jambheshwar University (GJU) Hisar on July 10. One of the other accused in this incident, sitting MLA from Hansi apologized to the farmers when they went to register their protest at his house. The dharna in Rohtak lasts for five days in the midst of heavy downpour as the ex-minister refuses to apologize. The local committee of the SKM announces a Mahila Nyay Mahapanchayat in Rohtak against this incident on July 19. The mahapanchayat is to be attended by the women’s organization from all over the country and national leadership of the SKM. This creates a huge pressure on the local BJP leadership. The district level leadership of the party reach out to the local administration and invited farmers for talks on the night of July 17. Both sides in the presence of respected citizens of the city reach a resolution on the matter and withdraw the protest after the ex-minister apologizes to the women.
