‘pagri sambhal diwas‘ is observed

‘Pagri Sambhal Diwas’ (a day for paying respect to the turban to mark the movement) is observed to celebrate the ‘Pagri Sambhal Jatta Movement’ of 1907 which had forced the British rule to scrap three laws related to land. The day also honoured the memory of Ajit Singh, uncle of Bhagat Singh, a popular revolutionary figure of the Indian freedom movement, who led the farmers of Punjab in this nine month long agitation.
