Victory of the people: 378th Day. An official letter signed by Sanjay Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare is received by the SKM agreeing on the following (bulleted) issues:

  • All cases filed by different agencies during the period of the protests all over the country against farmers and the supporters will be withdrawn immediately.
  • Compensation for families of martyr farmers.
  • Stubble burning is decriminalized.
  • Electricity bill to be introduced in the Parliament only after consultations with SKM and addressing their concerns.
  • Government to form a committee on MSP by including representatives from SKM and other farmer organisations. This committee is to work towards ensuring MSP to all farmers. There will be no deduction in the quota of current government procurement which is a major concern for the farmers in states where there is significant state procurement.

Keeping in mind cremation of CDS Rawat and soldiers who died in yesterday’s helicopter crash, camps from all border protest sites, toll plazas, and various other protest sites in different parts of the country will be removed on December 11 with celebrations of the victory.

SKM to meet again on January 15 to review the developments and decide on future course of action. SKM to be expanded to all parts of the country. Movement on a number of issues including demand for MSP, justice in Lakhimpur Kheri killings to be built and strengthened all over the country by all farmer organisations in the coming days. This form and phase of the movement has been suspended with these significant victories and certainly not an end.
