The Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, who runs a coalition government with the BJP makes an announcement in his speech that Bazaar Samitis (Market Committees) for farmers will be revived and strengthened in the state to protect farmers. It is important to note that the state of Bihar under Mr. Kumar had scrapped the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee Act in 2006 which resulted in dismantling of the state-supported market committees.
