Farmers in Moga district of Punjab oppose the rally by SAD chief, Sukhbir Singh Badal. Farmers were opposing Badal for his support in passing of the new agri-laws and ignoring the farmers’ interests. The police tried to stop farmers from reaching the rally venue which led to a clash between the farmers and the police and farmers indulging in stone pelting. The police resort to use of water cannons and lathi-charge the farmers. The police file cases against the farmers. Farmers’ organizations, while addressing a press conference on September 3, condemn the provocative statements and actions of the SAD chief who threatened the protesters. The farmer leaders said that they want to have clarity on SAD’s stand on the farm laws and conduct a question-answer session with them. They decline from it after agreeing earlier. The farmers’ leaders demand that all the cases against farmers should be withdrawn by September 8 or else they will announce further protests.
