Haryana CM, M L Khattar while speaking at a BJP Kisan Front event is recorded asking the attendees to prepare volunteer squads with lathis (sticks) at each district to confront the protesting farmers and follow a ‘tit for tat’ approach. He further adds that even if they have to go to jail for a few months they should not worry about that since that experience will teach them a lot and help them come out as leaders. The statement is widely condemned and protests demanding the CM’s resignation are organized on October 4 all over the state. Eventually, the CM apologises to farmers on October 8.
