Farmer unions and unions of rural labour have come together to exert pressure on the state government to address the demands related to MGNREGA, residential plots, labour codes, strengthening of PDS and social security, check on micro-finance and credit groups, loan waiver and electricity bill waiver. One of the first protests for these demands are being held from August 9-11 in Patiala, the home city of the Chief Minister of Punjab.
