Protests take place in front of Congress and BJP-JJP MP/MLAs in Punjab and Haryana respectively against the delay in paddy procurement which was scheduled to begin on October 1. However, at the last moment, it was postponed till October 11 and other conditions were imposed on procurement and for including the Bajra crop under Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana (the price deficit compensation scheme for vegetables) [4]. On the same day, after the protests, the government changes its decision and gives orders to start paddy procurement on October 3.
