The SIT of the UP police investigating Lakhimpur Kheri killings recommends the removal of existing IPC sections 279 (negligent driving), 338 (causing grievous hurt), and 304A (culpable homicide not amounting to murder). Instead, it has recommended imposition of sections 307 (attempt to murder), 326 (causing hurt with dangerous weapon), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), and section 3/25/30 Arms Act, suggesting use of fire arms, on the 13 accused. In the light of the latest findings, SKM demands that the Modi government stop shielding this “Conspirator of the Kisan Massacre in Lakhimpur Kheri”, and reiterates its demand for his dismissal and arrest.
